A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the diagnosis and management of gum disease, and is well trained in dental implant treatment.
Periodontists have extensive accredited education and training in these areas of dentistry, including an intensive 3-year residency after dental school. As dental specialists, we also work in partnership with your general dentist to deliver the very best dental and periodontal care to suit your specific needs.
Periodontal (gum) disease is very common and usually painless, which means it often goes unnoticed. It is the inflammation of the gums which can lead to irreversible bone loss around the teeth/implants and possibly to tooth/implant loss.
After our comprehensive periodontal evaluation, we will be able to diagnosis and treat gum disease in a treatment plan specifically tailored to your individual needs. Treatment will involve non-surgical periodontal therapy (specialized deep cleaning) and possibly surgical periodontal interventions including open-flap deep cleanings, bone grafting and bone re-shaping.
From treating a gummy smile to receding gums, we will carefully assess and perfect your smile. We specialize in various methods of gum grafting and crown lengthening procedures to manage excessive gum display and/or to make it possible to place a crown on a tooth.
